History
Blue walrus beer
began back in 1999. Two guys were
sitting outside drinking a beer, when they decided that they could create a
better tasting beer than the one they were drinking. Thus began what is now known as Blue Walrus Beer.
We started out by
researching online for equipment, methods, and recipes for making homebrewed
beer. Soon we ordered a “starter” kit
from an online retailer.
After waiting
anxiously for the kit to arrive, the day finally came and we were ready to
begin making beer.
Not sure what we
were doing, we read over the directions and proceeded to begin making our first
batch of beer. We followed the steps
and a few hours later we had five gallons of something that didn’t remotely
resemble beer….yet. After a brief
fermentation period, we were ready to put our beer into bottles. This proved to be the most difficult task so
far. Nevertheless, soon we had 48
bottles of our own creation. All that
was left was to wait another week for the beer to carbonate.
Although our first
batch of homebrewed beer wasn’t the greatest, it was definitely a great
achievement and the beginning to many days of homebrewing.
We’ve come a long
way since that first batch of beer, but we will always remember the sense of
accomplishment from drinking that first beer that we made.
